Many had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They took their match at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 61-0 win over Springfield. Considering Many has won seven matches by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Meanwhile, South Plaquemines strolled past Port Barre with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 34-16.
South Plaquemines relied on the efforts of Zae'sean Riley, who rushed for 134 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries, and Jyheim Williams, who rushed for 124 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. Williams really tore up the turf during one magnificent 78-yard run.
Many's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 2-8 Winnfield and 3-8 Red River (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 40.3% over those games). As for South Plaquemines, their win bumped their record up to 9-2.
Many came out on top in a nail-biter against South Plaquemines in their previous matchup back in December of 2020, sneaking past 2-0. Does Many have another victory up their sleeve, or will South Plaquemines turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
