The Brother Rice Crusaders will be taking part in a tournament against the Hubbard Greyhounds at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in Brother Rice's favor as the squad sits on 18 straight wins at home while Hubbard has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.
While Brother Rice's win against Maine South wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Crusaders sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over the Hawks on Saturday. The win continues a trend for the Crusaders in their matchups with the Hawks: they've now won six in a row.

Brayden McKendrick tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Gavin Triezenberg, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Aidan Nohava was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Hubbard can bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They blew past Juarez 8-2. Considering the Greyhounds have won 12 contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Ricardo Romo and Thiago Monarrez were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Romo tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Monarrez struck out 14 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Those 14 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. At bat, Romo went 2-for-3 with two RBI, while Monarrez went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Monarrez has become a key player for Hubbard: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 8-10-1 otherwise.
In other batting news, Jaden Rodriguez was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Hubbard's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1-1 (and 9-10 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Serafin Millan, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Hubbard always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Juarez only posted an OBP of .367.
Brother Rice's victory bumped their record up to 31-3. As for Hubbard, they now have a winning record of 12-11-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Brother Rice has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Hubbard struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
