Baseball Recap: Bishop Rosecrans Wins Going Away Against Catholic Central

After losing to Catholic Central the last time they met, Bishop Rosecrans decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Bishops were the clear victors by a 12-5 margin over the Crusaders on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Bishops, who have now won four contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Hayden Perdue was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Coen Grandstaff was incredible, going 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three doubles, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Kohen Harris also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.

Bishop Rosecrans kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Bishop Rosecrans is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Catholic Central, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bishop Rosecrans will face off against Fisher Catholic at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bishops are facing the Irish at the right time seeing as the Irish are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Catholic Central, they will take on Bridgeport at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
