After flying high against the United Golden Eagles last Wednesday, the Maplewood Rockets came back down to earth. Maplewood took a 39-21 bruising from Mogadore on Monday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Maplewood has scored all season.
Despite the defeat, Maplewood had strong showings from Lauran Krieg, who scored seven points along with 11 rebounds and four steals, and Aliah Brumit, who scored four points along with five rebounds.
Mogadore was led to victory by Julie Tompkins and Amelia Morris. Tompkins almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds, while Morris scored six points along with 18 rebounds and two steals. Tompkins continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Mcintyre, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Maplewood's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-8. As for Mogadore, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-10.
Maplewood will head out on the road to challenge Mineral Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mineral Ridge has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 180 points over their last three matches. As for Mogadore, they will be playing at home against Rootstown at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mogadore will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 431st, while Rootstown is ranked 93rd).
