Given their disadvantage in the MaxPreps state rankings, Independence should expect quite the challenge on Friday. They will challenge Water Valley on the road at 7:00 PM. Water Valley will be strutting in after a win while Independence will be stumbling in from a defeat.
Last Friday, Independence were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap, as they fell 14-20 to Palmer. A silver lining for Independence was the play of senior R.J. Wilson, who rushed for 99 yards and 1 touchdown.
Meanwhile, Water Valley put the finishing touches on their 7th blowout victory of the season. They put a hurting on Coahoma Agricultural to the tune of 41-0. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 34-0.
Independence took a serious blow against Water Valley the last time the two teams met, falling 28-64. Can Independence avenge their loss, or is history doomed to repeat itself ? We'll soon find out.
