The Waldron Mohawks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Morristown Yellow Jackets at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Last Tuesday, Waldron ended up a good deal behind Jac-Cen-Del and lost 62-46. While losing is never fun, Waldron can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 273rd, while Jac-Cen-Del is ranked 96th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Alyssa Benson, who scored 15 points along with 7 assists and 3 steals. Another player making a difference was Audrey Hogg, who scored 8 points along with 7 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Morristown was the victim of a tough 58-34 defeat at the hands of Franklin County on Saturday. Morristown was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-15.
The losing side was boosted by DDanika Rutledge, who scored 14 points along with 5 rebounds. She scored a full 41.2% of Morristown's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Waldron has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Morristown, they bumped their record down to 1-8 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight at home.
Waldron might still be hurting after the 62-38 loss they got from Morristown in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Will Waldron have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get analysis of the match and other basketball content.
