After a string of three wins, the Wheeler Eagles's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of Biggersville by a score of 48-45. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Wheeler has suffered since December 14, 2023.
Wheeler's loss came despite strong showings from Rebekah Mason and Emma Kate Beckham. Mason scored seven points along with 14 rebounds and two blocks, while Beckham scored 12 points along with three steals. Mason has been hot recently, having posted ten or more rebounds the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Camryn Sanford, who scored ten points.
Wheeler's loss dropped their record down to 11-15. As for Biggersville, their victory bumped their record up to 15-9.
Wheeler and Thrasher will face off at 4:00 p.m. on February 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Wheeler focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Tuesday. As for Biggersville, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Baldwyn at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Mississippi (Biggersville is ranked 127th, while Baldwyn is ranked 133rd).
