Everything went their way against the Wayne Warriors on Tuesday as they made off with a 16-1 win. The high-scoring effort was just what the Firebirds needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
Paige Kopp was a standout: she scored two runs while going 2-for-2. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Bellea Lucas, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
Kopp wasn't the only one making solid contact: Lakota West kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The Firebirds are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
The victory got Lakota West back to even at 3-3. As for Wayne, their loss was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-3.
Lakota West didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 10-0 win against Sycamore on the 16th. As for Wayne, they will square off against Little Miami at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
