The Spring Valley Vikings will face off against the Chapin Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
Spring Valley came into this matchup off a tough nine-run loss on Monday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Mid-Carolina by a score of 5-3 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Vikings have suffered since April 19, 2024.

Jayden Williams was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. He has become a key player for Spring Valley: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-10 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Braden Lawton, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Chapin entered their tilt with Brookland-Cayce on Monday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They came out on top against the Bearcats by a score of 7-2.
Tyler Graham looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).
On the hitting side, Caden Reeves was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Weston Plotner, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Chapin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 8.8.
Chapin's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-5. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Spring Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-12.
Everything went Spring Valley's way against Chapin in their previous matchup back in March of 2015, as Spring Valley made off with a 7-1 victory. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
