Baseball Recap: Edisto Has No Trouble Against North

While Edisto put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for North. The Cougars blew past the Eagles 12-0. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by eight runs or more this season.

Max Dempsey made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Edisto is undefeated when Dempsey allows one or fewer hits, but 8-10 otherwise. Dempsey was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

In other batting news, Edisto got a big performance out of Billy Hardy, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI Hardy has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Connor Baldwin, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Edisto now has a winning record of 11-10. As for North, their defeat was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Edisto will head out to square off against Bamberg-Ehrhardt at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for North, they will square off against Calhoun County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Saints have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.08 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of.
