Basketball Recap: Middle College Takes a Loss

Middle College was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 50-48 heartbreaker at the hands of the Larchmont Charter Timberwolves. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cougars of the 47-45 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.

When it comes to explaining why Middle College lost, don't look at Haidyn Lakey. Despite the final result, he went 12 of 19 en route to 30 points and six rebounds. The matchup was Lakey's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lebron Hasan, who posted ten points and eight boards.

Even though they lost, Middle College was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since the start of last season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Larchmont Charter to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nicholas Ojeda, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 14 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Micah Fleischman, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten assists.

Middle College's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Larchmont Charter, they pushed their record up to 3-0 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Middle College wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 83-27 defeat against Math & Science College Preparatory on the 13th. As for Larchmont Charter, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 75-29 victory against Animo South Los Angeles on the 13th.
