The East Gaston Warriors will challenge the Corvian Community Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Last Thursday, East Gaston made easy work of Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy and carried off a 12-2 win. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by seven runs or more this season.
Jaiden Crouch made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Crouch was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, East Gaston got a massive performance out of Cameron Barnette, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. Barnette is becoming a predictor of the Warriors' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 7-2 (and 3-6 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Zane Dodd, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Corvian Community got themselves on the board against Piedmont Community Charter on Monday, but Piedmont Community Charter never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over the Patriots. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cardinals.
Like East Gaston, Corvian Community also got a great game from a two-way player: Holden Parks. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Parks has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Gavin McElhinny was a standout: he scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Brennan Frey was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.
The victory got Corvian Community back to even at 9-9. As for East Gaston, their win bumped their record up to 10-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. East Gaston has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Corvian Community struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
