The Freeport Red Devils can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Oyster Bay 45-42. The win was just what Freeport needed coming off of a 52-30 loss in their prior match.
Freeport's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jayden Gordon led the charge by scoring 12 points along with three steals. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for him. Jaylen Jean-Louis was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Freeport's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-6. As for Oyster Bay, they bumped their record down to 0-1 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home dating back to last season.
Freeport won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Plainedge at 12:45 p.m. on December 29th. Oyster Bay does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
