Basketball Recap: Roseville Comes Up Short

Roseville was the 79-66 winner over Davis Sr. when they last played one another back in December of 2018, but their luck changed this time around. The Roseville Tigers took an 80-75 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Davis Sr. Blue Devils. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Tigers came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 142nd, while the Blue Devils are ranked 604th).

When it comes to explaining why Roseville lost on Saturday, don't look at Tyler Ritter. Despite the final result, he went 8 of 17 on his way to 18 points along with seven boards and six assists. That's the most points Ritter has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthias Howard, who posted 15 points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Roseville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in nine consecutive games.

Roseville's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Davis Sr., they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 3-5 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Roseville will welcome Del Oro at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Davis Sr., they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Futures at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Davis Sr.'s favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matches.
