The Lamar County Trojans lost to the Mary Persons Bulldogs back in January, but the Lamar County Trojans didn't allow the Mary Persons Bulldogs the same satisfaction on Friday. Lamar County came out on top against Mary Persons by a score of 57-47. The win made it back-to-back wins for Lamar County.
Lamar County had a senior duo take command as Shakiria Foster dropped a double-double on 29 points and 11 rebounds and Zakiria Foster scored 15 points along with six steals and five rebounds. The matchup was Foster's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Journi Harris was another key contributor, scoring six points along with seven rebounds.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Zaria Wilson, who scored 14 points along with seven steals. Another player making a difference was Zoey Shannon, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds.
The victory got Lamar County back to even at 3-3. As for Mary Persons, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lamar County won't have much time to rest: their next game is against LaGrange at 3:00 p.m. on December 9th. LaGrange will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 453rd, while Lamar County is ranked 157th). Mary Persons and Turner County will face off at 6:00 p.m. on December 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
