Baseball Game Preview: Branchville Yellow Jackets vs. Bamberg-Ehrhardt Red Raiders

Branchville is on a three-game streak of home losses, and Bamberg-Ehrhardt a five-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Monday. The Branchville Yellow Jackets will host the Bamberg-Ehrhardt Red Raiders at 6:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Branchville's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 22-0 margin over Military Magnet Academy. The result was nothing new for the Yellow Jackets, who have now won four contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Hunter Steedly looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Branchville is 2-1 when Steedly allows three or fewer earned runs, but 3-5 otherwise.

At the plate, Branchville let Mason McCormack and Luke Shaw run wild. McCormack went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one double, while Shaw went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave McCormack a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Seth Shaw, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one triple.

Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last matchup, Bamberg-Ehrhardt made sure to put some runs up on the board against American Leadership Academy on Thursday. The Red Raiders blew past the Patriots 13-3. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Red Raiders' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

With the win, Bamberg-Ehrhardt broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-5. As for Branchville, their victory bumped their record up to 5-6.
