The St. Andrew's Episcopal Lions waltzed into their contest Monday with three straight wins but they left with four. They managed a 63-58 win over Oakland Mills. Given St. Andrew's Episcopal's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 14th, while Oakland Mills is ranked 92nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Olivia Strause, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 14 rebounds. That's the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points. Sophia Brooks was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
St. Andrew's Episcopal's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for Oakland Mills, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Andrew's Episcopal will take on St. John's Catholic Prep at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. St. John's Catholic Prep is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 52.2 points per game. Oakland Mills will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on South River at 5:00 p.m. on January 12, 2024.
