Thornwell is 0-3 against Ware Shoals since April of 2024 but things could change on Thursday. The Saints will welcome the Hornets at 4:00 p.m. Thornwell knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Ware Shoals likes a good challenge.
The home team had won the previous two meetings between Thornwell and McCormick, and Thornwell kept the tradition alive. The Saints were the clear victors by a 22-2 margin over the Chiefs on Tuesday. Considering the Saints have won eight matches by more than 14 runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Adrienne Anderson was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Karleigh Porter, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.
Thornwell always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .971. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Ware Shoals unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of Dixie by a score of 7-6.
Stella Eichhorn put in work while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Eichhorn wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Sarah Vinson, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Thornwell's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-6. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.3 runs over those games. As for Ware Shoals, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Thornwell hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .454. However, it's not like Ware Shoals struggles in that department as they've averaged .337. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Thornwell couldn't quite get it done against Ware Shoals when the teams last played two weeks ago as they fell 6-2. Will the Saints have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
