Tohatchi came tearing into Friday's contest with 13 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.5 points), and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 77-58 win over the Newcomb Skyhawks. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 70-39 back in January.

Leading Tohatchi to victory were Kyle Yazzie and Josh Dawes. Yazzie dropped a double-double with 18 points and 14 rebounds, while Dawes went 10-for-22 on his way to 24 points along with eight assists and six boards. Yazzie is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in each of the last 11 games he's played. Adriano Begay was another key player, putting up ten points.

Tohatchi smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in four consecutive matchups.

Despite the defeat, Newcomb had strong showings from Savier Thomas, who went 7-for-15 to rack up 18 points, and Ayden Willie, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten boards. Those ten rebounds gave Willie a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kinjii Natonabah, who posted five points and eight boards.

Tohatchi pushed their record up to 22-2 with the victory, which was their 11th straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.5 points over those games. As for Newcomb, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 12 of their last 13 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-17 record this season.

Tohatchi has already played their next contest, a 65-47 win against Wingate on the 15th. As for Newcomb, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 49-38 loss against Crownpoint on the 15th.
