Cassville has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the East Newton Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Saturday, Cassville was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 52-46 to Monett.
East Newton suffered their biggest defeat yet this season two weeks ago. They were beaten by McDonald County 65-13. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for East Newton in their matchups with McDonald County: they've now lost four in a row.
Cassville's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for East Newton, they dropped their record down to 3-10 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Cassville was able to grind out a solid victory over East Newton in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, winning 42-30. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cassville since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
