Basketball Game Preview: Cranston West Falcons vs. West Warwick Wizards

Having just played yesterday, the Cranston West Falcons will head out on the road to face off against the West Warwick Wizards at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Cranston West is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.3 points per game this season.

Cranston West is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: Barrington, who was ranked 12th at the time (Cranston West was ranked 18th). Cranston West took a 43-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of Barrington on Tuesday. The Falcons have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

The losing side was boosted by Saniyya Chase, who posted six points in addition to ten boards and eight steals. Chase is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season.

Meanwhile, West Warwick unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Monday. They lost to St. Raphael Academy on the road by a 72-55 margin.

Cranston West will have to keep a close watch on Lex Foley and Brea Lima, a pair of players who had a big impact on West Warwick's prior game. Foley had 13 points along with five assists and five boards, while Lima dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance gave Lima a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of McKenzie Roll, who posted a point and five steals.

West Warwick's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-4. As for Cranston West, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Cranston West came up short against West Warwick in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 54-45. Can Cranston West avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
