Bonita Vista has gone a perfect 4-0 against Mira Mesa recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Barons will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against the Marauders at 6:15 p.m.
Bonita Vista came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 3-0 to Santana. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Barons have suffered since October 22, 2024.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-19, 25-16.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Mira Mesa, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Foothills Christian on Thursday, sneaking past 3-2.
The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Mira Mesa who won the one that mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 23-25, 25-23, 19-25, 15-10.
Bonita Vista better keep an eye on Camille Collado. She was instrumental in Mira Mesa's win, getting 28 digs and three aces. That's the most digs Collado has posted since back in September of 2024. Janaeye Sedeno also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.
Mira Mesa was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 12 aces in three consecutive contests.
Mira Mesa's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Bonita Vista, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-4.
Bonita Vista was able to grind out a solid win over Mira Mesa in their previous matchup back in September of 2024, winning 3-1. Do the Barons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Marauders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
