The Mercyhurst Prep Lakers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They strolled past Erie First Christian Academy with points to spare, taking the game 77-61. The victory was some much needed relief for Mercyhurst Prep as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Mercyhurst Prep's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jeremy Ganska, who scored 23 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ganska has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Craig Buckner, who scored 13 points along with eight steals and seven rebounds.
Several Erie First Christian Academy players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Avery Collins, who scored 22 points. That was a full 36.1% of Erie First Christian Academy's points, marking the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Simon Gonzalez was another key contributor, scoring 21 points.
Mercyhurst Prep's win bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Erie First Christian Academy, they bumped their record down to 2-9 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.
Mercyhurst Prep will take on Iroquois at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Iroquois focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Friday. As for Erie First Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against Seneca at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
