The 21st Century Charter COUGARS came tearing into Friday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They snuck past Evansville North with a 61-55 win. 61 seems to be a good number for 21st Century Charter as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
21st Century Charter was led to victory by Terrence Hayes and Lemetrius Williams. Hayes scored 24 points along with six rebounds, while Williams dropped a double-double on 21 points and 15 rebounds. The matchup was Williams' fourth in a row with at least ten points. Ron Mosely was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Evansville North's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Cayden Gehlhausen, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds, and Bryson Chapman who scored 14 points along with six rebounds. The game was Gehlhausen's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Brayden Huebner, who scored 12 points.
21st Century Charter's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Evansville North, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.
21st Century Charter will be playing at home against Lighthouse College Prep Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Evansville North's road trip will continue as they head out to face Evansville Harrison at 7:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
