On Friday, The Chicago Christian Knights got themselves on the board against the Christ the King Gladiators, but the Christ the King Gladiators never followed suit. They breezed by the Gladiators on the road to the tune of 38-0. The result was nothing new for Chicago Christian, who have now won four games by 28 points or more so far this season.
Christian Flutman was the offensive standout of the matchup as he rushed for 92 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries, and also threw for 141 yards and two touchdowns. Caden Boersma made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Christ the King to a paltry 25 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Chicago Christian's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out three times before it was all said and done. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Brock Sperling.
The win (which was Chicago Christian's third in a row) raised their record to 5-3. Admittedly, the team didn't face the toughest opposition across those games, namely Christ the King, Bishop McNamara, and St. Edward. As for Christ the King, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chicago Christian will take on Aurora Christian at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Christ the King, they will be playing at home against Chicago Hope Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Chicago Hope Academy is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
