The Laurel Spartan will head out on the road to face off against the Shenango Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Laurel is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Laurel put the finishing touches on their third blowout victory of the season on Friday. Everything went their way against Summit Academy as Laurel made off with a 30-6 win. The win was just what Laurel needed coming off of a 35-7 loss in their prior matchup.
Ben Hennon was the offensive standout of the match as he rushed for 111 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. Another player making a difference was Luca Santini, who threw for 77 yards and two touchdowns on only three passes.
Meanwhile, Shenango and Leechburg were almost perfectly matched up on Friday, but Shenango suffered an agonizing 27-26 loss.
Laurel's victory bumped their season record to 3-6 while Shenango's loss dropped theirs to 4-5.
Everything came up roses for Laurel against Shenango in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 35-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Laurel since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
