Purnell Swett unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They lost to the Union Pines Vikings at home  by a   64-45 margin on Tuesday.
 Despite the  loss, Purnell Swett had strong showings from  Collin Sampson, who  posted 13 points along with three  steals, and  Jeremiah Barnes, who  earned ten points plus six  rebounds. Sampson has been hot recently, having  posted two or more  steals the last three times he's  played. Another player making a difference was  Colton Sampson, who  posted four points in addition to three  steals.
  Jaylen Kyle went supernova for Union Pines,  going 8 for 14 en route to 25 points plus six  rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of  Jaydon Harrell, who  scored nine points in addition to seven  rebounds and two  steals.
 Purnell Swett will square off against Hoke County at 7:30  p.m.  on Friday. Purnell Swett is no doubt hoping to put an end to  a six-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. As for Union Pines, they will challenge Montgomery Central at 7:30  p.m.  on Thursday.
