The Mexico Bulldogs will challenge the Marshall Owls at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Mexico is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.
While Mexico's win against North Callaway wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bulldogs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Thunderbirds on Thursday. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Thunderbirds recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Drew DeMint spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits. He has become a key player for Mexico: the team is undefeated when he allows at most three earned runs, but 10-11 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Mexico's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Brady Fox, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Marshall came up short against Lafayette County on Friday and fell 13-8. The Owls haven't had much luck with the Huskers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Logan Kirchhoff was cooking despite his team's loss, going 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Creighton Byrd also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Mexico pushed their record up to 17-11 with the win, which was their third straight at home. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Marshall, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-17.
Marshall's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Mexico has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .433. It's a different story for Marshall, though, as they've only averaged .363. Will they be able to contain Mexico's hitters?
Mexico skirted past Marshall 5-3 in their previous meeting back in April. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Owls have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
