The Woodland Wolves will take on the Lincoln Fighting Zebras in a tournament on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Lincoln will be up against a hot Woodland team: the squad just extended their winning streak to five. The Wolves put the hurt on Center with a sharp 12-2 victory on Monday. That's two games straight that the Wolves have won by exactly ten runs.
Riley Salvemini and Cohen Dwyer made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Salvemini pitched 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Meanwhile, Dwyer tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Salvemini has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. At bat, Salvemini went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Dwyer scored two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. That's the most doubles Salvemini has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Dylan Ramirez was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last ten games he's played. Joseph Cadotte was another key player, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4.
Woodland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Center only posted an OBP of .227.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lincoln). They blew past South Tahoe 16-5 on Monday. The win was familiar territory for the Fighting Zebras, who have now won six games in a row.
Anthony Jackson looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, Landyn Plaut was a standout: he scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Alejandro Armstrong also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Lincoln pushed their record up to 15-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Woodland, their record is now 15-6.
Tuesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Woodland hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .345. However, it's not like Lincoln struggles in that department as they've averaged .319. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Woodland skirted past Lincoln 4-3 in their previous meeting back in March of 2018. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolves since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
