It wasn't quite the high school debut he likely dreamed of, but
Bol Bol — son of the late Manute Bol — put on a
Bishop Miege (Shawnee Mission, Kan.) basketball uniform for the first time Tuesday night.
After transferring early in the school year from Blue Valley Northwest (Overland Park) to Bishop Miege, Bol Bol will be relegated to junior varsity status until his eligibility status is determined.
Ironically, Bishop Miege was facing Blue Valley Northwest in the season opener for both teams. As he demonstrated Tuesday, the 6-foot-10 freshman has a sweet jumper and is a menace defensively. Expect Bol to lead all junior varsity players nationally in dunks if he remains at that level.
Born in Sudan (now South Sudan), Manute Bol played 10 seasons in the NBA and is believed to be the second-tallest player in league history at 7-foot-6. Prior to his untimely death in 2010, he became well-known for his political activism.
Bol Bol is a promising talent in his own right. He's shot up at least six inches in the last year and is regarded as a Top 20 prospect in the 2018 class by
