Softball Recap: Mission Has No Trouble Against Roma

On Friday, the Mission Eagles got the win against the Roma Gladiators by a conclusive 17-6. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won four contests by 11 runs or more so far this season.

Mission got a massive performance out of Aleyda Reyes, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Mia Flores also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Mission hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in eight consecutive matchups.

Mission has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-6 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 14.5 runs. Roma's defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mission will host Palmview at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Palmview is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Roma, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Martin at 6:00 p.m. Roma is facing Martin at the right time seeing as Martin is stuck on a 16-game losing streak.
