The third road game was the charm for the Ben Lomond Scots, as they earned their first road win of the season. They walked away with a 72-60 victory over Granger on Tuesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
It was another big night for Jonathan Alcarez, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 14 rebounds. He set a new season high mark in blocks with four. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Christensen, who scored ten points along with four steals.
When it comes to explaining why Granger lost, one person who can't be blamed is Daudi Aweyso. Despite the final result, he scored 31 points. The match was Aweyso's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Mason Biddulph was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five rebounds.
Ben Lomond's win ended a 11-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-5. As for Granger, they bumped their record down to 1-4 with that defeat, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ben Lomond will face off against Roy at 7:00 p.m. on December 20th. As for Granger, they will head out on the road to face off against Ogden at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ogden presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Granger in Utah (Ogden is ranked 22nd, while Granger is ranked 127th).
