The ThunderRidge Grizzlies will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Chaparral Wolverines at 5:30 p.m. ThunderRidge is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you make five more threes than your opponent, a fact ThunderRidge proved on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 39-25 win over Castle View. Given ThunderRidge's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 27th, while the Sabercats are ranked 95th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Becca Winton was a one-man wrecking crew for ThunderRidge as she scored 17 points along with five steals. It was the first time this season that Winton scored 15 or more points. Gabbie Forsythe was another key contributor, scoring four points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Chaparral suffered a tough 54-31 loss at the hands of the Warriors on Monday. Chaparral has struggled against the Warriors recently, as their contest on Monday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
ThunderRidge's victory bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Chaparral, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-6.
ThunderRidge took their victory against the Wolverines when the teams last played back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 43-18. Does ThunderRidge have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wolverines turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
