The Evansville Central Bears will be playing in front of their home fans against the Princeton Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a five-game winning streak alive.
Last Saturday, Evansville Central strolled past New Albany with points to spare, taking the game 52-33. Given Evansville Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while New Albany is ranked 253rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Evansville Central got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Madalynn Shirley out in front who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and six blocks. Shirley is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Mya Skelton, who scored 11 points along with five steals.
Even though Princeton has not done well against Tecumseh recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Princeton managed a 64-58 win over Tecumseh. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Evansville Central is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. As for Princeton, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-4.
Evansville Central came out on top in a nail-biter against Princeton in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, sneaking past 49-46. Does Evansville Central have another victory up their sleeve, or will Princeton turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
