Baseball Recap: Friday's Win Is Tatum's Ninth in Last 11 Outings

The Tatum Eagles made easy work of the Brook Hill Guard on Friday and carried off an 8-1 victory. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by seven runs or more this season.

Logan Cansler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 12 Ks. Those 12 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for him.

At the plate, Tatum let Colt Bullard and Tucker Anthony run wild. Bullard scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Anthony went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most hits Anthony has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Whiteus, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Tatum is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. As for Brook Hill, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-3.

Coming up, Tatum will welcome Central Heights at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Blue Devils will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. As for Brook Hill, they are taking a road trip to face off against Mansfield Homeschool at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Guard 4.1, the Knights 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
