Torres took a 39-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hoover. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Torres in their matchups with Hoover: they've now lost three in a row.
Torres lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Sabrina Cerrillo, who scored ten points along with six steals. Cerrillo is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jasmine Garcia, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Torres has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-7 record this season. As for Hoover, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-10.
Torres will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Sunnyside at 6:30 p.m. Sunnyside is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Hoover, they will head out on the road to square off against Roosevelt at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
