North Callaway has gone a perfect 10-0 against Mark Twain recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Thunderbirds will challenge the Tigers at 5:00 p.m. North Callaway is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season.
It was a Battle of the Birds when North Callaway took on Clopton on Friday. The Thunderbirds never let the Hawks get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The Thunderbirds haven't had any issues with the Hawks recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
The result came thanks to Carter Moore's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Caleb Sheets was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Chance Green, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Mark Twain was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of Van-Far.
Brayden Moss made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Snodgrass, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run.
North Callaway's victory bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Mark Twain, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.
Mark Twain's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: North Callaway has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .493. It's a different story for Mark Twain, though, as they've only averaged .364. Will they be able to contain North Callaway's hitters?
North Callaway took their win against Mark Twain in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 14-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Thunderbirds since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
