Basketball Recap: Calhoun Falls Charter Piles Up the Points Against Whitmire

Calhoun Falls Charter entered their tilt with Whitmire on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Whitmire Wolverines 57-23. The team ran away with 46 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those to pick up the win.

It was another big night for Autumn Thomas, who posted 29 points and seven rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Calhoun Falls Charter's points. Alexis Sanders was another key player, putting up seven points along with 12 rebounds and three blocks.

Calhoun Falls Charter smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Despite the loss, Whitmire saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Brooklynn Babb went 6 of 14 on her way to 15 points and four steals. That was a full 65.2% of Whitmire's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brantlee Roche, who had two points and four steals.

Calhoun Falls Charter's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Whitmire, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Calhoun Falls Charter didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 53-46 win against McCormick on the 18th. As for Whitmire, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 66-20 victory against South Carolina School for the Deaf & Blind on the 16th.
