Kennedy Catholic has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Tahoma Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Kennedy Catholic posted their closest win yet this season on Friday. They skirted past Decatur 49-46. The win was just what Kennedy Catholic needed coming off of a 58-35 defeat in their prior matchup.
Kennedy Catholic can attribute much of their success to Gabriela King, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Burns, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Tahoma waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with seven straight wins but they left with eight. They strolled past Decatur with points to spare, taking the game 56-38. Given Tahoma's advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while Decatur is ranked 96th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Among those leading the charge was Adalynn Busch, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. She continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kate Wooten, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Kennedy Catholic's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-9. As for Tahoma, their victory was their 14th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-2.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Kennedy Catholic have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 27 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Tahoma struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 29.9 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Kennedy Catholic took a serious blow against Tahoma in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 50-23. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Tahoma's Lily Cavanaugh, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
