Columbia and Middleburg are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2018, but likely not for long. The Tigers will be playing at home against the Broncos at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Columbia will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Thursday, then bounced right back against Branford on Tuesday. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over the Buccaneers. The Tigers not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 8th.

Harleigh Price made a splash while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.3 strikeouts per game. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February.
In other batting news, Kimber Long and Brooklyn White did most of the damage at the plate: Long went 2-for-4 with one home run and one double, while White scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Luisa Taylor, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Columbia kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Branford only managed two hits.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Middleburg ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past Nease 4-3. The win continues a trend for the Broncos in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won six in a row.
Middleburg's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kerra Clarida, who went 1-for-4 with one double and one RBI. KK Hagan was another, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.
Middleburg pushed their record up to 12-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Columbia, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-7.
Columbia couldn't quite get it done against Middleburg when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 4-1. Will the Tigers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
