The Lakewood Piners's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fifth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Shore Regional, falling 64-13. Lakewood has struggled against Shore Regional recently, as their game on Monday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Shore Regional to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kimi Sayson, who scored eight points along with five steals. Sayson hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Reese Fiore was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five steals.
Lakewood's defeat was their 12th straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-8. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 14.0 points per game. As for Shore Regional, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.
Lakewood on the road again on Tuesday and play against Keyport at 4:00 p.m. on January 23rd. As for Shore Regional, they will be playing at home against Ocean Township at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Ocean Township is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
