Brookville has gone a perfect 3-0 against Bethel recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Blue Devils will challenge the Bees at 5:00 p.m. One thing working in Brookville's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last five matches.
While Brookville's victory against Valley View wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Blue Devils skirted past the Spartans 12-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Blue Devils have posted against the Spartans since May 11, 2022.
Rylan Eagle made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched 5.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Libby Nutter was excellent, going 2-for-5 with three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Maya Haydon, who scored three runs.
Brookville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Bethel came up short against Covington on Thursday, falling 13-1. The Bees have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Bethel saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Allie Sheen, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Brookville has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Bethel, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
Bethel's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Brookville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .321. It's a different story for Bethel, though, as they've only averaged .227. Will they be able to contain Brookville's hitters?
Brookville skirted past Bethel 4-2 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Devils since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
