Maud is 0-3 against New Diana since November of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Maud Cardinals will be home for the holidays to greet the New Diana Eagles at 4:00 p.m. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Last Tuesday, Maud came up short against Marshall Christian Academy and fell 37-30.
Despite the defeat, Maud saw an underclassman step up: Mallorie Bishop scored 19 points. Bishop scored a full 63.3% of Maud's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Bayla White, who scored five points.
Meanwhile, New Diana's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They took a hard 42-25 fall against Pleasant Grove.
Starrmia Dixon was New Diana's leading scorer, having posted eight points.
Maud's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for New Diana, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost ten of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.
Maud took a serious blow against New Diana in their previous meeting back in November, falling 64-16. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Maud was down 38-9.
