The Brazos Cougars will face off against the Cornerstone Christian Warriors at 3:40 p.m. on Thursday. Brazos comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 21 points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
Last Tuesday, Brazos had to suffer through a rough 69-15 loss at the hands of Palacios. While losing is never fun, Brazos can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1284th, while Palacios is ranked 503rd).
Cornerstone Christian has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 21 points or more this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat Kenedy 79-31 at home. The win was some much needed relief for Cornerstone Christian as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Cornerstone Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Adah Snead led the charge by dropping a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Yasmeen Schmidt, who scored 23 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals.
Brazos' defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Cornerstone Christian, they have yet to lose a game at home this season, leaving them with a 11-4 record.
