Chopticon is 1-7 against St. Charles since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Chopticon Braves will head out on the road to take on St. Charles at 6:30 p.m. Hopefully Chopticon focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Wednesday.
Chopticon unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak. They took a 55-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of McDonough.
Despite the loss, Chopticon got a solid performance out of Braylon Harrison, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Harrison has scored all season. Jordan Pernell was another key contributor, scoring six points along with seven assists.
Meanwhile, St. Charles put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat North Point 59-29 on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory St. Charles has posted since December 21, 2023.
Shamir Taylor was his usual excellent self, scoring 28 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Tajir Webster, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Chopticon's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for St. Charles, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-3.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Chopticon have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 35.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like St. Charles struggles in that department as they've been averaging 33.4 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Chopticon came up short against St. Charles when the teams last played back in January of 2023, falling 74-61. Can Chopticon avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
