Baseball Recap: Carrollwood Day Wins Going Away Against St. Petersburg Catholic

Carrollwood Day had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt St. Petersburg Catholic on Thursday. Everything went the Carrollwood Day Patriots' way against the St. Petersburg Catholic Barons as the Carrollwood Day Patriots made off with an 11-3 victory. The Patriots haven't had any issues with the Barons recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Carrollwood Day got a great performance from Gabe Troya as he struck out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). Troya has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Steven Vargo was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Allen Soriano, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI.

Carrollwood Day lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Carrollwood Day's record now sits at 8-4. As for St. Petersburg Catholic, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-8.
