The Cheyenne Wells Tigers entered their tilt with the Swink Lions with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Cheyenne Wells walked away with a 47-37 win over Swink on Saturday. Given Cheyenne Wells' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while Swink is ranked 198th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Cheyenne Wells to victory were Corey Hill and Carson Noe. Hill dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds, while Noe dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. Hill is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Dickey, who scored eight points.
Several Lions players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cort Larrew, who scored 12 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Larrew has scored all season. Nick Paolucci was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Cheyenne Wells' victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.8 points per game. As for Swink, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
Cheyenne Wells will look to defend their home court on Friday against Cheraw at 6:00 p.m. As for Swink, they will head out on the road to square off against Walsenburg at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
