Basketball Recap: Mead Hall Episcopal School Takes a Loss

Mead Hall Episcopal School lost against Augusta E back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Mead Hall Episcopal School Panthers were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 49-48 to the Augusta E Eagles. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Panthers came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 267th in South Carolina, while the Eagles are ranked 548th in Georgia).

Despite the loss, Mead Hall Episcopal School saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Braylon Fuller almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine boards. The match was Fuller's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Walker Weidenman was another key player, putting up ten points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Even though they lost, Mead Hall Episcopal School smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Augusta E was led to victory by Jude Brouwer and Ben Briley. Brouwer dropped a double-double on 23 points and 13 boards, while Briley dropped a double-double on 18 points and 20 rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Brouwer has scored at least a third of Augusta E's points.

Mead Hall Episcopal School's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-6. As for Augusta E, their victory ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-14.

Mead Hall Episcopal School didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 58-52 loss against Holly Hill Academy on the 31st. As for Augusta E, they will take on Anderson C at 2:00 p.m. on February 8th.
