Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The Eastern Alamance Eagles, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were beaten by Southern Durham 36-7 on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 41 points in the game before, Eastern Alamance couldn't push the score so high this time.
Jason Ball threw for 69 yards on eight of 23 attempts. Douglas "DJ" Lathan was his top target, picking up 41 receiving yards. On the ground, Tyrek Samuel rushed for 56 yards and a touchdown.
Southern Durham had a senior duo take command as Jordan McClure threw for 405 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 13.5 yards per attempt and Amir Hall picked up 210 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Hall's longest reception was for an incredible 87 yards. Another player making a difference was Jalen McKee, who rushed for 78 yards and a touchdown on only six carries.
Eastern Alamance's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Southern Durham, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 7-4.
Eastern Alamance does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Southern Durham will head out on the road to face off against Scotland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Scotland is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
