The Hedgesville Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 55-35 walloping at the hands of Jefferson. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Hedgesville of the 50-25 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2023.
Despite the defeat, Hedgesville saw an underclassman step up: Gracie Brown dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. Brown is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games she's played. Maggie Boyer was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Hedgesville's loss was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 5-9. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 23.2 points per game. As for Jefferson, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-13.
Hedgesville will square off against the Applemen at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Jefferson, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Gael at 6:00 p.m. Goretti is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games.
